All About Color: The Newest ThermaSol-Sponsored Design-Focused Panel

July 2, 2021 | Inspiration

We are a proud sponsor of Convo By Design, a podcast about all things design, and this month’s panel was all about color, which we value as a form of wellness with our chromatherapy options with our lighting-integrated HydroVive and Serenity rainheads and ThermaTouch controls. Josh Cooperman, founder and host of Convo x Design (CXD), discussed how color can have a tremendous impact on mood, style, feel and look in any space. With so many “color of the year” promotions, it’s hard to separate trending from trendy. New ideas emerge from the fashion industry every season that impact color and pattern preferences in the design industry. This panel took a look not at what the popular colors will be in 6 months, but influences and strategies for finding the right colors for the preferences of the client and historical ideas with respect to color palette and pattern selection.

Josh was joined by a panel of industry experts:

Alecia Bailey | Bailey Li

Alecia Bailey of Bailey Li Interiors is a self-realized interior designer and decorative artist specializing in commercial and residential design. She is a curator of artfully inspired, “insanely” stylish spaces and is a creative visionary who has the ability to transform spaces into stunning environments through her amazing hand-painted wall murals and her discerning design eye. Her breathtaking walls combined with her fresh and fearless design perspective are what makes her stand out in the industry.

Rocky Rochon | Rocky Rochon Studios

For more than 30 years, Rocky Rochon of Rocky Rochon Studios has been making his mark in design; most recently with his highly specialized Rocky Rochon Paint Laboratory, which he launched in 2010. Wanting an extensive breadth of colors, he started by creating a collection that offered stepped values of the same color; then expanded to collections of vivids, whites and blacks, special finishes, and finally custom coloring, a variety of special textures, floor paint, and the 2020 expansion into ‘wall tiles’.

For Rocky’s process-oriented mind, it is Metamerism, the science of the reflection of light and its impact on how color is defined, that is one of the most foremost aspects that guides his approach to The Paint Laboratory. Rocky approaches his design projects by identifying the programmatic criteria and fuses those components with the client’s aesthetic to create a unique environment.

Christina Garcia | Layered Dimensions

Christina Garcia Lysaught is the founder and principal designer at Layered Dimensions, which she founded after 10 years of working in the industry at esteemed design firms such as Dallas Design Group, interiors. Her aesthetic is curated and edited, resulting in interior designs that blend sophistication with surprise for a truly bespoke result. She’s an alumna of Texas Christian University’s prestigious interior design program and has become known in Dallas for conceiving detailed, one-of-a-kind designs for new construction. Christina treasures each client relationship and uses the rapport she builds with clients as the foundation for her stunning, award-winning designs.

We invite you to listen to these panelists discuss the intricacies of color here.
