The use of color therapy, as it was originally called, dates back many hundreds of years; Doctors have been trying to understand the therapeutic effects of color well before the 1800s. Flash forward, it is now called Chromatherapy and when combined with aromatherapy (the use of fragrance or smell as its own type of therapy or treatment), the effects can be both calming and energizing, depending.
Today chromatherapy and aromatherapy are used as treatments in spas and even many high-end gyms but they are also used as daily feel good rituals not the word i want in people’s homes; imbuing their subtle yet positive effects on one’s mental, physical and emotional well-being. We’ve come up with a few of what we are calling ‘peaceful pairings’ and hope you’ll try incorporating this peaceful pairing into your daily wellness routine.
Violet Chromatherapy
Chromatherapy is an alternative healing method that uses color and light to re-balance energy centers in the body, also known as chakras. Drawing from the theory of Indian Ayurvedic healers, ThermaSol’s calming chromatherapy treatments are connected to the seven chakras of the body, which have a corresponding color, a physical location and a distinct energy.
Violet chromatherapy represents the crown chakra that rests at the top of the head or the “third eye” and is often characterized by the “om” Sanskrit symbol. This color and chakra is said to be the most meditative and is ostensibly used to soothe organs, relax muscles and calm the nervous system.
Egyptian Geranium Essential Oil
Dating back to Ancient Egypt where it was purportedly used to enhance the beauty of one’s skin and hair, geranium oil is known for its many versatile uses. Its bright and uplifting floral scent makes it a popular perfume (and is supposedly a natural insect repellent) but is also said to support one’s emotions by creating a calming and grounding effect. Additionally, Geranium’s sprightly aroma is thought to relieve stress, soothe nerves and alleviate tension. These benefits are true of steam showers as well, which is why combining the two, along with chromatherapy, is a match made in heaven.
The Ultimate Pairing
By combining the violet chromatherapy and Egyptian geranium oil with your steam shower, you’re shower experience [ritual] will be transformed.
